Kolkata: The West Bengal government has ordered a major reshuffle of the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre, with 17 IPS officers transferred and assigned new responsibilities across key police formations and units.
The latest round of transfers covers senior appointments in the Intelligence Branch, Kolkata Police, CID, SCRB, PAC, security, traffic and other important wings of the state police.
Key IPS Transfers and Postings in West Bengal:
Niloo Sherpa Chakraborty (IPS: 2005), who was serving as Inspector General (IG), State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB), has been transferred and posted as IG, West Bengal Police Housing & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (WBPHIDCL).
Kuntal Banerjee (IPS: 2019), formerly Commanding Officer (CO), SAP 4th Battalion, will take charge as Deputy Commissioner (DC), Barrackpore Police Commissionerate.
Sparsh Nilangi (IPS: 2020), who was serving as DC, Enforcement Branch (EB), Kolkata, has been appointed DC, Detective Department (DD), Kolkata.
Devendra Prakash Singh (IPS: 2002), Additional Commissioner of Police, Kolkata, has been moved to the Intelligence Branch (IB), North Bengal, where he will serve as Inspector General (IG).
Sukhendu Hira (IPS: 2009), previously DIG (Security), has been appointed Joint Commissioner of Police (Security), Kolkata.
Dr. Bholanath Pandey (IPS: 2011), who was serving as DIG, Intelligence Branch, has been posted as Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Kolkata.
Shankha Shubhra Chakraborty (IPS: 2006), Inspector General, Home Guards, will now take charge as IGP, SCRB.
Sudheer Kumar Neelakantam (IPS: 2007), formerly IGP, Special Task Force (STF), has been transferred as Additional Commissioner of Police, Kolkata.
Surya Pratap Yadav (IPS: 2011), serving as Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Kolkata, has been posted as DIG, Intelligence Branch.
Debarshi Dutta (IPS: 2011), who was serving as DIG, West Bengal Police Commissionerate, has been appointed Joint Commissioner of Police, Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate.

Nima Norbu Bhutia (IPS: 2013), formerly CO, SAP 10th Battalion, has been posted as Senior Superintendent (SS), CID.
Dhritiman Sarkar (IPS: 2014), previously SS, Intelligence Branch, has been transferred and posted as SS, CID, Malda.
Wangden Bhutia (IPS: 2015), who was serving as Commanding Officer, 2nd Industrial Battalion, Siliguri, will now serve as SS, CID.
Arish Bilal (IPS: 2016), formerly SS, CID, Malda, has been assigned a new posting as SS, CID.
Kazi Shamsuddin Ahmed (IPS: 2017), previously DC, Traffic, Siliguri Police Commissionerate, has been appointed DC, Detective Department (DD), Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate.
