POWERGRID reports Rs. 3,598 Crore consolidated PAT in Q1FY27, Total Income reaches Rs. 11,697 Crore

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), the Maharatna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has reported a consolidated Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs.3,598 crore for the first quarter of financial year 2026-27 (Q1FY27), while its consolidated total income stood at Rs.11,697 crore.

The financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, reflect the company’s continued focus on strengthening India’s transmission infrastructure and supporting the country’s evolving power sector.

On a standalone basis, POWERGRID recorded a PAT of Rs.3,411 crore, while total income stood at Rs.11,370 crore during Q1FY27. On a consolidated basis, the company reported PAT of Rs.3,598 crore and total income of Rs.11,697 crore.

Rs.7,765 Crore Capital Expenditure:

POWERGRID continued its strong investment in transmission infrastructure during the quarter. The company incurred capital expenditure of Rs.7,765 crore on a consolidated basis in Q1FY27.

During the same period, assets worth Rs.5,277 crore were capitalised, excluding Foreign Exchange Rate Variation (FERV) and including assets capitalised under finance leases. As of June 30, 2026, POWERGRID’s consolidated gross fixed assets stood at Rs.3,25,671 crore, including gross lease receivables.

Transmission Network Continues to Expand:

At the end of Q1FY27, POWERGRID and its subsidiaries collectively operated a substantial transmission network comprising 1,86,595 circuit kilometres (ckm) of transmission lines, 291 substations and 6,34,516 MVA of transformation capacity.

The company maintained an average transmission system availability of 99.80% during the quarter, highlighting the reliability and operational efficiency of its transmission network.

Rs.80 Billion JBIC Loan for Khavda-Nagpur Project:

During Q1FY27, POWERGRID secured a JPY 80 billion loan from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) to finance the landmark Khavda-Nagpur High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Transmission Project.

The project is expected to play an important role in strengthening transmission infrastructure associated with the integration and evacuation of renewable power.

POWERGRID Wins Five Transmission Projects:

Under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) mechanism, POWERGRID emerged as the successful bidder for five transmission projects during Q1FY27.

These included three Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) projects and two Intra-State Transmission System (InSTS) projects, further strengthening the company’s presence across India’s transmission infrastructure landscape.

In July 2026, POWERGRID also secured India’s first Synchronous Condenser scheme under TBCB. The initiative is aimed at providing essential grid support to facilitate the integration of renewable energy into the power system.

With continued investments, new project wins and strategic financing initiatives, POWERGRID remains focused on expanding India’s transmission network and enabling the integration of a growing share of renewable energy into the national grid.
