Major administrative reshuffle in Delhi Police: 43 High-Ranking officers transferred

In a significant administrative overhaul, the Delhi Government has sanctioned a comprehensive reshuffle within the top brass of the Delhi Police department. This major strategic reorganization impacts 43 high-ranking officials, including 41 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers alongside two Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Police Service (DANIPS) cadre officers. The key structural realignment encompasses top leadership roles, notably shifting eight Special Commissioners of Police (Special CPs) and eight Joint Commissioners of Police (Joint CPs), while reassigning multiple Additional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners across vital operational zones.

At the highest echelon, senior IPS leaders have been assigned enhanced leadership domains. Garima Bhatnagar has taken on the dual responsibility of Special CP for the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) alongside Managing Director of the Delhi Police Housing Corporation Limited (DPHCL). Traffic management sees a leadership swap as Manish Agrawal steps into the role of Special CP for the Protection and Security Division (PSD), while former PSD chief Ajay Chaudhary transitions to oversee the Traffic division. Additional top-level assignments include Vivek Kishore moving from Arunachal Pradesh to head SPUWAC & Licensing, and Sindhu Pillai taking charge of Vigilance, Perception Management, and the Media Cell following her transfer from Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Furthermore, K. Jegadesan retains leadership over the Intelligence Division, while Atul Katiyar assumes responsibility as Special CP for the Welfare & Legal Division.

The key operational ranges will also see fresh leadership under newly appointed Joint Commissioners. Nupur Prasad shifts from the EOW to head the prestigious New Delhi Range, whereas Jatin Narwal leaves the Western Range to direct the Special Branch. Taking over the Western Range is Suman Goyal, while Milind Mahadeo Dumbere is slated to take charge of the Eastern Range starting September 1. Additional Joint CP level shifts include Rajneesh Gupta leading the Transport Range, Deepak Purohit taking over Licensing, and Veenu Bansal managing SPUWAC & SPUNER. Newly posted officer Ajay Krishan Sharma enters as Joint CP for Headquarters following his transfer from Goa.

Significant movements were also ordered at the field and district administrative levels to strengthen law enforcement operations. Key postings include Niharika Bhatt taking charge as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for the North District, while Hemant Tewari steps into the Special Branch as DCP. Vineet Kumar transitions to head the South East District, and Gaurav Tyagi assumes command as DCP for the Information Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit. The restructuring further integrates officers returning from inter-state assignments across Mizoram, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Jammu & Kashmir, and Chandigarh into various strategic traffic, district, and specialized technology divisions throughout the capital city.
