HUDCO Celebrates Women’s Day 2024 with Inspiring Women Achievers

The HUDCO family came together with fervor and enthusiasm to commemorate Women’s Day 2024 across its offices on March 7th, 2024. The event witnessed a remarkable gathering of women employees at the corporate office, underscoring the significance of gender equality, free from biases, stereotypes, and discrimination.
Aligned with the theme of 2024 ‘Investing in women: Accelerate progress’, HUDCO’s spotlight was on the essential and inseparable roles that women are playing in accelerating India’s journey towards becoming a Viksit Bharat by 2047. The celebration emphasised the importance of a barrier-free world, advocating for gender equality and inclusivity.
To enrich the celebration, HUDCO invited distinguished women achievers from diverse fields, who shared their inspiring journeys and successes. These esteemed guests shared their remarkable journeys and insights, inspiring all present to embrace inclusivity and champion change.
One such invitee was Smt. V. Sarita, who is the First Women Bus Driver in Delhi Transport Corporation. Sarita’s story underscores the importance of courage and support in breaking barriers. As the first woman DTC driver, Sarita has overcome numerous adversities, emphasizing the importance of courage and support from family, friends, and society.
Another similar narration was shared by Smt. Richa Singh, the first female driver at Delhi Metro. Richa Singh’s journey as a woman driver through the tracks of Delhi Metro symbolizes empowerment and challenges gender norms.
This inspiring stories of women achievers in daily chores were complemented by insights into mental health and cybersecurity. The story of Inspector Smt. Kusum Lata, SHO in Cyber Crime division of Delhi Police narrated how a women shattered stereotypes in the male-dominated field of law enforcement, particularly in combating cybercrime. She gave valuable tips to prevent cyber targeting of women.
Women’s mental health is important since they are engaged in multi-tasking. Smt. Dr. (Prof) Mina Chandra, Head of Psychiatry Department at RML Hospital touched on this very important aspect. Dr. Mina Chandra’s extensive experience in mental health advocacy was instrumental in providing important tips for awareness on balance in women’s roles and promoting mental well-being.
Each speaker, embodying leadership in their respective domains, shared poweful insights on fostering inclusion through personal anecdotes, resonating deeply with the audience. Their messages sparked engaging informal discussions, further emphasizing the significance of the day.
Senior officials including Sh. Vineet Gupta, Chief Vigilance Officer, and Sh. Shailesh Tripathi, Executive Director (IT), graced the occasion with their presence and encouraged female officials of HUDCO throughout the proceedings.
The Women’s Day celebration at HUDCO could successfully demonstrate the organization’s commitment to gender equality and empowerment, reaffirming its role as a catalyst for positive change in society.
