The Central Government has carried out a major administrative reshuffle involving several officers of the Indian Statistical Service (ISS) serving at the Director and Additional Statistical Adviser levels. The extensive transfer exercise is aimed at strengthening statistical management, enhancing policy support systems, and improving data governance across key ministries, departments, and field offices nationwide.
Under the latest orders, several ISS officers have been assigned to strategically important ministries and organizations. Tandrima Chakraborty has been moved to the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S), while Supriya Saxena joins the Department of Consumer Affairs. Bamane Mohan Jinnappa has been posted to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), and Srijan Acharya takes over responsibilities in the Department of Justice. Rinki Gupta has been assigned to the Department of Sports under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The reshuffle also includes key postings in sectors such as petroleum, finance, renewable energy, commerce, textiles, higher education, and water resources. Several officers have been deployed to NSO field offices across cities including Nagpur, Jaipur, Guwahati, Bengaluru, Goa, Shimla, Burdwan, Jalandhar, and Cuttack. Young and mid-career officers have received fresh assignments designed to strengthen statistical operations and support evidence-based governance.
The large-scale movement of ISS officers reflects the government’s emphasis on modernizing statistical administration, improving inter-departmental coordination, and ensuring effective deployment of skilled professionals in critical policymaking and development sectors.
