THDC India Limited (THDCIL) has been honored with the Gold Award for “Digital Innovation in Disaster Management” at the ETGovernment DigiTech Awards 2025 in New Delhi. The recognition was awarded for its Digital Disaster Management System for Tehri Dam, a state-of-the-art initiative enhancing disaster resilience and public safety.
The award ceremony was graced by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, who served as the Chief Guest. His address emphasized the growing importance of Generative AI, Machine Learning, and Augmented/Virtual Reality in governance and public administration.
THDCIL’s Digital Disaster Management System includes an Inflow Forecasting System, established in 2016, which provides 6-hour and 24-hour advance predictions on inflow and reservoir levels. The system utilizes real-time data from 11 Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) and four Automatic Gauge & Discharge (AG&D) stations in the Tehri Catchment area. By integrating hybrid forecasting models that combine deterministic and stochastic approaches, THDCIL has significantly enhanced flood risk mitigation and water resource management.
