The Indian power sector bids a heavy-hearted farewell to Shri R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director of THDC India Limited (THDCIL). Shri Vishnoi, a respected leader who rose from the company’s engineering ranks, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the age of 58.
Born on March 30, 1967, his 37-year career stands as a testament to lifelong dedication. Joining THDCIL in 1989 as an engineer, Shri Vishnoi’s journey was a masterclass in professional growth, culminating in him taking the CMD charge on August 6, 2021.
An Honors Graduate in Civil Engineering from BITS Pilani, he was central to the execution of India’s most complex projects, including the Tehri, Koteshwar HEP, and the VPHEP. His expertise transcended national borders; he served as India’s representative on the ICOLD Technical Committee for Seismic Safety of Dams.
Under his brief but impactful tenure as CMD, he relentlessly drove the strategic pivot to transform THDCIL into a diversified and innovative power major. His profound commitment and inspiring leadership have left an enduring, irreplaceable void.
