Tamil Nadu Transfers Three Central Prison Superintendents After Prisoner Escape Incidents

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has ordered a reshuffle of prison officials, transferring three officers across the Madurai, Salem and Cuddalore Central Prisons following a series of prisoner escape incidents in the state.

The transfer order, dated October 31, directs the officers to assume their new assignments with immediate effect.

Key Prison Officer Transfers:

  • R Krishnaraj: Transferred from Madurai Central Prison to Salem Central Prison.
  • A Parasuraman: Shifted from Cuddalore Central Prison to Madurai Central Prison.
  • G Vinoth: Transferred from Salem Central Prison to Cuddalore Central Prison.

The department has also issued arrangements for the handover of charge at the three prisons. Deputy Inspector General of Prisons, Madurai Range, A Murugesan, will temporarily oversee the Madurai Central Prison until Krishnaraj joins his new posting.

The latest reshuffle follows a separate change in the leadership of the prison department. Sandeep Rai Rathore was transferred from the post of DGP (Prisons), while ADGP K Shankar was appointed his successor.
