Tamil Nadu reassigns several IAS officers in fresh Bureaucratic reshuffle

Chennai: In a fresh round of administrative restructuring, the Tamil Nadu government has reassigned 18 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, bringing changes across several key departments to strengthen governance and streamline administration.

One of the key appointments sees Additional Chief Secretary Pradeep Yadav moving from the Information Technology and Digital Services Department to head the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department. Dr. Atul Anand, who was handling the MSME portfolio, has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Information Technology Department.

The reshuffle also includes a leadership change at the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB). V. Arun Roy, formerly Secretary, Higher Education Department, has been appointed Chairman and Managing Director of TNEB, replacing J. Radhakrishnan, who will now serve as Director General of the Anna Institute of Management.

In the Environment Department, Kakarla Usha has been appointed Secretary, Environment, Climate Change and Forest Department, while Supriya Sahu has been assigned the role of Commissioner of Entrepreneurship Development. E. Sundaravalli has been promoted as Secretary to the Public Department.

The transfer list further names Dheeraj Kumar as Secretary, Higher Education Department, P. Umanath as Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries & Commerce, and Nirmal Raj as Secretary, Transport Department.

Among other appointments, Sigy Thomas Vaidhyan has been posted as Transport Commissioner, M. Vallalar as Labour Commissioner, R. Gajalakshmi as Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise, and D. Baskara Pandian as Director of Museums.

The latest IAS reshuffle underscores the Tamil Nadu government’s continued focus on administrative realignment and improving governance through strategic leadership changes across departments.
