The Tamil Nadu government has ordered a major reshuffle involving 10 IPS officers, assigning senior police officials to important positions across the state. The transfers and postings, issued by the Home Department, will take effect immediately.
Among the key appointments, B. Bala Naga Devi, IPS, has been posted as the Director General of Police (DGP), Crime Branch-CID (CBCID). Vidya Jayant Kulkarni, IPS, has been appointed Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Economic Offences Wing (EOW).
In another significant move, Abhin Dinesh Modak, IPS, has been assigned as ADGP, Cyber Crime Wing, Chennai, strengthening the senior leadership overseeing cyber-related policing and investigations.
The latest Tamil Nadu IPS reshuffle also covers several important police units, including Q Branch-CID, Special Branch-CID, Anna Nagar, Tamil Nadu Commando Force, Coastal Security Group and the Anti-Terrorism Squad.
The government order includes postings to vacant positions as well as the reallocation of officers to key operational and administrative responsibilities in Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu.
The Home Department Police Note dated August 12, 2026, confirms that the transfers and new postings have been implemented with immediate effect.
The reshuffle is expected to bring changes in the leadership of several specialised police wings while placing experienced IPS officers in crucial law-enforcement and security assignments across Tamil Nadu.
