Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has issued fresh posting orders involving two senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, placing both of them on compulsory wait with immediate effect.
A. Arun, IPS, who was serving as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) and Director of the Tamil Nadu Police Academy at Oonamancherry, has been placed on compulsory wait at the office of the Director General of Police in Chennai. DGP Rajeev Kumar, IPS, has been assigned additional charge of Director, Tamil Nadu Police Academy, until further orders.
In another change, Dr. N. Kannan, IPS, Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City, has also been placed on compulsory wait at the DGP’s office in Chennai.
Following the order, R.V. Ramya Bharati, IPS, Inspector General of Police, West Zone, Coimbatore, has been given additional charge as Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City.
The orders were issued by the Home (SC) Department of the Tamil Nadu Government on September 24, 2026, and came into effect immediately.
