Supreme Court collegium recommends 19 names for appointment as Madras High Court Judges

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of nine judicial officers and ten advocates as Judges of the Madras High Court, marking a major development in the higher judiciary.

The nine judicial officers recommended for elevation are Dr P Murugan, Mrs MD Sumathi, Mrs S Alli, Mrs C Thirumagal Chandrasekar, Dharmalingam Lingeswaran, Karthikeyan Balathandayutham, Shanmugam Karthikeyan, Baluchamy Murugesan, and N Gunasekaran.

The Collegium has also proposed the elevation of ten advocates to the Madras High Court bench. Their names include Natarajan Ramesh, GK Muthukumaar, Ramakrishnan Rajesh Vivekananthan, Sankaranarayanan Raveekumar, Nagarajan Dilip Kumar, Ellappan Manoharan, Krishnaswamy Govindarajan, Rajnish Pathiyil, K Appadurai, and Mrs Ramasamy Anitha.

The recommendations by the Supreme Court Collegium are expected to strengthen the judicial functioning of the Madras High Court by addressing vacancies and enhancing judicial capacity.
