State Bank of India, the country’s largest public sector bank, has initiated a significant reshuffle in its top leadership, reinforcing its operational and strategic framework across the nation. In a move that reflects the bank’s focus on regional empowerment and central oversight, Rajesh Kumar has taken charge as Deputy Managing Director (R-A\&SME) at the Corporate Centre in Mumbai—a role critical to advancing SBI’s Retail and SME banking agenda.
Adding strength to regional operations, several seasoned officers have stepped into the role of Chief General Managers (CGMs) across major SBI circles. Balaji Kumar Singhasamanta now heads the Ahmedabad Circle, Ratna Teja Dinakara Akella takes over the Bhubaneswar Circle, and Prabhas Bose leads in Guwahati. Meanwhile, Sahadevan Radhakrishnan, Anurag Joshi, and Bangarraju Venkata Kunaparau have been appointed as CGMs for Hyderabad, Patna, and Thiruvananthapuram Circles respectively—marking a fresh wave of leadership with deep banking expertise.
On the central governance front, appointments have also been made across crucial functional verticals. Sanjai V S takes over as CGM (FI), and Madan L S assumes charge of CGM (TPM) at the Corporate Centre, Mumbai. In New Delhi, Amritesh Mohan has been named CGM (GBSSU), while Hemant Karulia steps in as CGM (R). In the technology domain, Rajeev Srivastava and Shailendra Singh Taragi have been trusted with key leadership roles at the Global IT Centre in Navi Mumbai, heading ESS and IT-C\&SP respectively.
With new CGMs like Arun Pandey (Risk Management), Sham Lal Garg (Compliance), and Ponnambalam Murugan (HR) taking charge, SBI’s leadership reset spans finance, compliance, operations, HR, and audit functions. The appointments of Kaduhole Shantaram Pai, Debasis Patri, and Janmejoy Mohanty across the internal audit vertical, along with Dinesh Pruti as CGM in Hyderabad, are expected to reinforce oversight and operational integrity in one of India’s most critical financial institutions.
