The Government of India has announced a series of key appointments for the upcoming census, naming new Directors of Census Operations in several states and union territories. These appointments are aimed at strengthening population data collection, demographic analysis, and field supervision to ensure accurate and timely census results.
In Chhattisgarh, Kartikeya Goyal will lead the census activities, overseeing planning, enumeration, and demographic analysis for the state. Jayantibhai Mayatra has been entrusted with similar responsibilities in Gujarat, where he will ensure the smooth execution of data collection to aid policymaking. In the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Ms Purva Garg will head the operations, focusing on meticulous enumeration and demographic studies.
For the northeastern state of Mizoram, Amit Sharma will manage population enumeration and reporting, while in Madhya Pradesh, Ms Sufiyah Faruqui Wali will supervise census fieldwork and verification. Gaurav Singh Rajawat has been appointed to oversee census operations in Lakshadweep, ensuring streamlined data collection in the UT. In Goa, Ms Cheshta Yadav will be responsible for leading the state’s population survey and statistical analysis.
These appointments mark a significant step towards enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of India’s census process, which plays a critical role in shaping developmental policies, welfare programs, and resource allocation across the country.
