SECL signs CSR MoUs worth Rs. 11.87 crore to Boost Healthcare, Child Development and Drinking Water access in Chhattisgarh

South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has signed multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, committing nearly Rs. 11.87 crore towards healthcare improvement, early childhood development and access to safe drinking water in project-affected areas of Chhattisgarh.

The MoUs were formalised at SECL Headquarters under the guidance of Shri Biranchi Das, Director (HR), and executed by GM (CSR) Shri C. M. Verma in the presence of senior CSR officials and partner organisations.

As part of its healthcare-focused CSR interventions, SECL has approved advanced infection-control projects using semiconductor-based air sterilization technology. At Late Bisahu Das Mahant Memorial Government Medical College & Hospital, Korba, SECL has sanctioned Rs. 2.81 crore for the installation of 62 Semiconductor Air Sterilizer Units in critical areas such as Operation Theatres, ICUs, NICUs, PICUs, labour rooms, TB wards and burn wards. This initiative aims to improve indoor air quality, patient safety and working conditions for healthcare professionals across Korba and nearby districts.

Similarly, at Swargiya Shri Dilip Singh Judeo Government Super Specialty Hospital, Bilaspur, SECL will provide CSR assistance of ₹3.49 crore for installing 77 air sterilizer units across operation theatres, ICUs, MICUs, dialysis units and other enclosed treatment zones, strengthening infection prevention and occupational health standards.

In the area of early childhood development, SECL has signed an MoU with Shrushti Seva Samiti, Udaipur (Rajasthan), for the development of 200 Model Anganwadi Centres in Bilaspur district at a CSR cost of Rs. 4.72 crore. The project focuses on upgrading infrastructure, sanitation, furniture and creating child-friendly learning environments to improve early education and nutrition outcomes.

Additionally, to ensure safe drinking water for mining-affected communities, SECL has partnered with CIPET, Raipur, to distribute 3,989 domestic water filters of 30-litre capacity along with water treatment kits in villages of the Gevra Area. The project involves a CSR expenditure of Rs. 84.73 lakh and aims to enhance public health and quality of life in project-affected regions.
