SECL observes “World Environment Day” with grandeur and green commitment

South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) celebrated World Environment Day with great fervor at its Headquarters Auditorium. The event began with the hoisting of the Environment Flag by the Chief Guest, CMD Harish Duhan, in the presence of key dignitaries including Director (Technical – Operations & Project Planning) N. Franklin Jaykumar, Director (HR) Biranchi Das, Director (Finance) D. Sunil Kumar, Chief Vigilance Officer Himanshu Jain, Shraddha Mahila Mandal President Mrs. Shashi Duhan, Vice Presidents Mrs. Haseena Kumar and Smt. Vinita Jain, General Manager (Environment) B.K. Jena, along with several officers and employees.

The ceremony also featured the playing of the Coal India Corporate Song and the release of “Paryavaran Darpan,” a magazine showcasing SECL’s environmental initiatives. CMD Harish Duhan led attendees in taking the “Environment Pledge,” urging all to reduce plastic use and promote recycling. A captivating street play by Agraj Natya Dal reinforced environmental awareness among the audience. Winners of various competitions organized for the occasion were felicitated during the event.

Marking the occasion of World Environment Day, SECL launched the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0” campaign inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative. CMD Harish Duhan, along with Directors N. Franklin Jaykumar, Biranchi Das, D. Sunil Kumar, Chief Vigilance Officer Himanshu Jain, Shraddha Mahila Mandal President Mrs. Shashi Duhan, Vice Presidents Mrs. Haseena Kumar and Smt. Vinita Jain, GM (Environment) B.K. Jena, and numerous officers and staff members participated in a plantation drive within the SECL administrative campus. A wide variety of saplings including medicinal and fruit-bearing species were planted. SECL has set an ambitious target of planting over one lakh saplings across its headquarters and operational areas in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh under this green initiative.
