SECL launches Coal India’s first Paste-Filling Project at Korba

Korba, Chhattisgarh: South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has launched Coal India’s first-ever Paste Filling Technology Project at the Singhali Underground Mine under the DSB Sub-Area, Korba Area, marking a historic step in sustainable mining.

The project, guided by Shri Harish Duhan, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, SECL, signifies a new era in eco-friendly and safe coal extraction. The Bhoomi Pujan ceremony was held with great enthusiasm, attended by Ramesh Chandra Mohapatra, Director (Technical) – Projects & Planning, SECL, as Chief Guest, along with other senior officials and employees.

A tree plantation drive followed the event, reaffirming SECL’s strong focus on environmental protection and sustainability.

Paste Filling Technology involves filling underground mine voids with a mixture of fly ash, tailings, and binders to enhance stability, minimize waste, and protect surface ecosystems. This innovation underscores SECL’s commitment to green mining and Coal India’s vision for safe, sustainable growth.
