Guwahati: Senior 2006-batch IPS officer Sanjukta Parashar has taken on a significant new responsibility with her appointment as Inspector General of Police (IGP), CID-I, Assam, at Ulubari in Guwahati.
An officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, Parashar was earlier serving as IGP, CID, Assam. Her career also includes a central deputation with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in New Delhi, where she served as Deputy Inspector General.
Parashar secured All India Rank 85 in the Civil Services Examination 2006 and began her policing career as an Assistant Commandant at Makum, Assam. She subsequently handled several demanding field assignments, including a sensitive law-and-order situation in Udalguri.
In a significant milestone for women in the security forces, Sanjukta Parashar has also been appointed Inspector General of the CRPF’s elite Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA). With this appointment, she becomes the first woman officer to lead the 10-battalion CoBRA formation, marking a notable chapter in the force’s operational leadership.
Known for her experience in field policing, counter-insurgency operations and investigation, Parashar’s latest assignments add another important dimension to her career in uniform.
