Rama Mohan Rao Amara appointed as the Managing Director of the State Bank of India (SBI)

Rama Mohan Rao Amara has been appointed as the Managing Director (MD) of the State Bank of India (SBI). With nearly three decades of experience in banking, Mr. Amara has held various leadership roles at SBI, both in India and abroad, showcasing his expertise in operational management, strategic planning, and financial services.

Educational Background:
Mr. Amara is an engineering graduate and has advanced his financial acumen through certifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Financial Risk Manager (FRM). These qualifications underscore his proficiency in risk management, investment analysis, and financial planning.

Prior Role:
Before his current appointment, he served as the Managing Director and CEO of SBI Card. In this capacity, he successfully led one of India’s largest credit card companies, managing various facets of the business, including customer acquisition, product development, and digital transformation.

Personal Interests:
Beyond his professional life, Mr. Amara is passionate about travel and enjoys exploring new places. He also finds inspiration from the book Inner Engineering by Sadhguru, which reflects his interest in personal growth and mindfulness.

Mr. Amara’s diverse experience and forward-thinking leadership are expected to strengthen SBI’s position as a leading global financial institution.
