R Prasad Meena, an accomplished IPS officer from the 1993 batch of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, has been appointed as the Director General (Investigation) of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). Prior to this role, he served as Special Director General (DG) in the Border Security Force (BSF), where he was instrumental in overseeing critical operational and strategic responsibilities related to border management and national security.
With over three decades of distinguished service, R Prasad Meena has an extensive background in law enforcement, internal security, and human rights advocacy. Known for his dedication and exemplary leadership, he has consistently contributed to strengthening governance frameworks and ensuring justice in complex situations. His experience in the BSF, one of the world’s largest border guarding forces, has honed his expertise in handling investigations, a skill that will be pivotal in his new role at NHRC.
As DG (Investigation) at NHRC, R Prasad Meena will oversee inquiries and investigations into human rights violations, working to uphold justice and protect the rights of individuals. His appointment is expected to bring a robust approach to addressing sensitive cases and enhancing the credibility of the commission.
