Punjab government reassigns roles for 10 IAS officers

In a recent administrative reshuffle, the Punjab government has entrusted ten IAS officers with new roles to streamline governance and enhance efficiency. Vikas Pratap, currently ACS-cum-Financial Commissioner, Excise, has been given additional responsibilities as ACS, Governance reforms and Public Grievances. Meanwhile, Alok Shekhar, ACS, Jails and Justice, now also holds the additional portfolio of ACS, Cooperation. Ajoy Kumar Sinha, PS, Finance, will oversee Power and New and Renewable Energy as well as serve as Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited.

Other key changes include Kumar Rahul, who will now take on the additional charge of Administrative Secretary, Medical Education and Research, alongside his current role as Administrative Secretary, Health and Family Welfare. Priyank Bharti will handle additional responsibilities as Administrative Secretary, Forests and Wildlife Preservation, while continuing his duties in Science, Technology, and Environment. Sheena Aggarwal, Director and Special Secretary, Social Security, Women and Child Development, will also act as Commissioner, NREGA. Sandeep Kumar has been appointed Additional Registrar (Administration), Cooperative Societies.

The reshuffle also sees Sagar Setia assuming the role of Additional Secretary, Higher Education and Languages; Ravinder Singh as Additional Secretary, Labour; and Harjinder Singh joining as Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Gurdaspur. These appointments aim to optimize administrative processes and align governance priorities across departments.
