Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked a significant stride in India’s energy journey by laying foundation stones for two POWERGRID projects and inaugurating three others during a ceremony in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The new initiatives include transmission systems for power evacuation from Rajasthan’s REZ Phase-IV and Neemuch Solar Park, among others.
These projects are being executed through subsidiaries like POWERGRID Sirohi Transmission Limited and POWERGRID Neemuch Transmission System Limited. Emphasizing sustainable development, the Prime Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to expanding clean energy infrastructure.
As of April 30, 2025, POWERGRID operates 283 substations and over 1.80 lakh ckm of transmission lines with an impressive 99.81% system availability rate.
