Pankaj Saxena and his empanelment as DG in GoI.
Pankaj Saxena is a senior IPS officer of the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory) cadre. He joined the service in 1992 and has served in various capacities in Delhi, Goa, Arunachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir. He is currently on deputation to the Cabinet Secretariat as Joint Secretary3.
He has been approved for empanelment for holding Director General and Director General equivalent posts in the Government of India by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) in February 20244. This means that he is eligible to be appointed to the topmost positions in the central police and paramilitary forces, such as CRPF, BSF, ITBP, SSB, NIA, etc. He is among the two IPS officers of the AGMUT cadre who have been empanelled for the DG rank, the other being Hemant Kumar Lohia4.
Pankaj Saxena is known for his expertise in intelligence, security, and counter-terrorism. He has been awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service1. He has also done a course on National Security and Strategic Studies at the National Defence College1.
