More than 3,000 students are participating in the International Conference on Physics Education (ICPE) 2025, being hosted at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar from December 16 to 20. The conference was inaugurated in the presence of Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government of India, who is also the Chief Guest of the event.
Welcoming Prof. Sood, Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director, IIT Ropar, highlighted the institute’s expanding footprint in research, innovation and technology-driven initiatives. He showcased IIT Ropar’s work in frontier areas including artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, advanced materials, clean energy, agricultural technology and education innovation, supported by strong industry collaborations and national missions.
Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood appreciated IIT Ropar’s integrated approach towards research, innovation and societal impact, and emphasized the importance of aligning academic research with national priorities. Prof. Rajeev Ahuja described ICPE 2025 as a reflection of IIT Ropar’s commitment to strengthening physics education through research-driven pedagogy and global collaboration.
A major highlight of ICPE 2025 was Padma Shri Prof. H. C. Verma’s interactive session with educators and students, which sparked meaningful discussions on experiential learning, conceptual clarity and the future of physics education in India. With strong academic engagement and global participation, ICPE 2025 continues to reinforce IIT Ropar’s position as a leading hub for innovation, interdisciplinary research and excellence in science education.
