Odisha IPS officers undergo major reshuffle

The Odisha government has implemented a significant reshuffling of IPS officers, leading to key transfers and new appointments across various departments. The move aims to enhance administrative efficiency by placing experienced officers in strategic positions. Jagmohan Meena has been appointed as DCP, Bhubaneswar, while Khilari Rishikesh Gyandev will now serve as DCP, Cuttack. S M Naravane has been transferred to the position of Special Director General, OHRC, Cuttack, bringing his expertise to a crucial role in human rights oversight.

Several mid-level officers have also been assigned to new roles. Dr Deepak Kumar has been designated as IGP, Operations, while Jai Narayan Pankaj has taken charge as IGP, Intelligence. Dr Sarthak Sarangi will now serve as IGP, CID-CB, and Neeti Shekhar has been posted as IGP, Southern Range. The restructuring extends to the DIG level, with appointments including Dr Umashankar Dash as DIG, Home Guards & Fire Services, Akhileshwar Singh as DIG, South Western Range, and Pinak Mishra as DIG, STF, Bhubaneswar.

At the district level, significant transfers have also taken place. Vivekanand Sharma has been appointed as SP, Railways, Cuttack, while Abilash G, Nagaraj Deverakonda, and Rahul Goyal have been posted as SPs of Bolangir, Kalahandi, and Boudh, respectively. Additionally, at the sub-divisional level, officers like Kashyap Parth Jagadeesh, Amritpal Singh, and Amritpal Kaur have been given new postings in key locations. The Odisha government’s decision to restructure postings at multiple levels indicates a strategic approach towards strengthening law enforcement and governance in the state.

This large-scale reshuffle is expected to bring new leadership dynamics into Odisha’s policing and administration. By positioning officers with proven expertise in key roles, the state aims to bolster security measures, improve governance efficiency, and enhance public service delivery. The transfers will also help in addressing regional challenges more effectively, ensuring that administrative and law enforcement bodies function optimally.
