India’s leading iron ore producer NMDC Limited has reported a strong 16% year-on-year growth in production for April 2026, marking a robust start to FY27. The company produced 46.4 lakh tonnes and sold 36.8 lakh tonnes of iron ore during the month, achieving its highest-ever April output.
Driven by exceptional performance at its Bailadila mining projects, NMDC continues to outperform industry trends. While India’s iron ore sector recorded a CAGR of 3.9% over the past four years, NMDC posted a higher growth rate of 6.8%, strengthening its market position.
CMD Amitava Mukherjee stated that the company is focused on expanding its capacity and infrastructure, with a target of exceeding 60 million tonnes in FY27. Following a strong FY26 performance of over 53 million tonnes, NMDC’s growth trajectory is expected to support India’s steel sector expansion.
