NLCIL and IREL join forces for critical mineral development

In a move aimed at bolstering India’s strategic mineral landscape, NLC India Limited (NLCIL) and Indian Rare Earths Limited (IREL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on May 6, 2025. The agreement, inked by V. Saravana Nagarajan of NLCIL and Ravi Prakash Jha of IREL in Mumbai, sets the stage for a robust collaboration in the exploration, extraction, and processing of critical minerals, both domestically and internationally.

The MoU encompasses joint efforts in identifying resource-rich areas, acquiring mining assets, and advancing mineral beneficiation technologies. Also included are plans for knowledge sharing, technical assistance, and feasibility studies, reinforcing the duo’s shared goal of supporting India’s push for self-reliance in minerals vital to energy, technology, and defence.

The signing was witnessed by senior officials from both organizations, highlighting the initiative’s high-level significance.
