Bhopal: In a significant development, 2014-batch IPS officer Anurag Sujania has tendered his resignation from the Madhya Pradesh cadre, barely four days after being transferred from Superintendent of Police (SP), Sagar, to Assistant Inspector General (AIG) at Police Headquarters, Bhopal.
Sujania submitted his resignation on November 2, citing personal reasons. His transfer order was issued on October 27, following the Banda illicit liquor tragedy in Sagar district, which claimed at least 16 officially confirmed lives.
At the time, Sujania was overseeing the investigation into the hooch tragedy. Sanjeev Kumar Sinha has since been appointed as the new SP, Sagar, as part of the administrative reshuffle.
An MTech graduate, Sujania has previously served as SP in Tikamgarh, Mandsaur, Morena and Sagar. His resignation is currently awaiting acceptance by the competent authorities.
