Dehradun, January 1: The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) at the Secretariat today, in the presence of Chief Secretary Radha Raturi. The agreement focuses on promoting tourism in Uttarakhand’s border areas as part of the Government of India’s flagship Vibrant Village Programme, which aims to foster the holistic development of border villages and enhance livelihood opportunities for residents.
To address challenges posed by inaccessible roads to religious sites such as Adi Kailash, Om Parvat, and Timmarsain Mahadev, the state government is introducing heli-services. These services will operate from helipads located within ITBP jurisdictions. Additionally, the helipads will facilitate emergency medical aid and the delivery of medicines to residents of Vibrant Villages.
The ITBP maintains forward posts in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand, reinforcing its critical role in border security and now tourism enhancement.
Present at the event were Secretary Sachin Kurve, ITBP Inspector General (Northern Frontier) Sanjay Gunjyal, and other senior officials from UTDB and ITBP.
