The Meghalaya government has carried out a significant reshuffle of IAS officers, assigning several senior bureaucrats to strategic administrative and departmental positions. The latest transfers are aimed at improving governance efficiency and strengthening departmental administration across the state.
As part of the reshuffle, Abhilash Baranwal has been appointed Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills, while Dr Abhishek Saini will take over as Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi district. Aitinolin L Mawlong has been posted as Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills.
Senior IAS officer Rosetta Mary Kurbah has been transferred as Secretary of the Home (Police) and Tourism Departments. Barnali Mawlong has been assigned the responsibility of Secretary, Health & Family Welfare. Swapnil Tembe, Secretary of Finance, has additionally been given charge of the Fisheries Department.
In another important move, Sampath Kumar has been entrusted with additional responsibility as Principal Resident Commissioner at Meghalaya House in New Delhi. M R Synrem, Principal Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, will also oversee the Secretariat Administration Department, Health & Family Welfare Department and serve as Additional Development Commissioner in New Delhi.
Sanjay Goyal has been appointed Resident Commissioner, New Delhi, while Dr Pooja Pandey has received additional charge of the Cooperation Department and Chairperson of the Meghalaya State Warehousing Corporation.
Further, Cyril V D Diengdoh, Commissioner & Secretary of Personnel & Administrative Reforms and Home (Police), has also been assigned charge of Commerce & Industries. Richa Kulkarni has been appointed Deputy Secretary in the Planning Department.
The reshuffle also includes changes in several other departments. S C Sadhu has been relieved from the additional charge of Fisheries Department Secretary, while T G Momin has been relieved from responsibilities linked to the Meghalaya Farmers’ Empowerment Commission.
Mrs Rikse R Marak will additionally function as Joint Secretary at Lok Bhawan, Tura, whereas Mrs Ibashisha Mawlong has been appointed Director of Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs. Richard Yanthan has been relieved from his additional responsibilities in the Health & Family Welfare Department.
