In a strategic move to boost India’s defence sector, Larsen & Toubro (L\&T) has partnered with Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) to support the development of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) for the Indian Air Force.
The L\&T-BEL consortium will jointly respond to the Expression of Interest (EoI) issued by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA). Leveraging L\&T’s expertise in aerospace and defence platforms along with BEL’s strength in defence electronics, the partnership aims to deliver cutting-edge technology for India’s first 5th-generation fighter aircraft.
Both organisations have previously played critical roles in the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) programme, contributing aero-structure modules, mission-critical avionics, and electronic systems. This new collaboration underscores their shared commitment to advancing Atmanirbhar Bharat and strengthening national security.
L\&T CMD S. N. Subrahmanyan highlighted the partnership as a “major leap towards modernising India’s defence capabilities,” while BEL CMD Manoj Jain expressed confidence that the project would deliver a world-class solution for the Indian Air Force and support India’s long-term vision of defence self-reliance.
