The Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Directorate of Skill Development, Government of Tripura, to jointly implement skill development and community outreach programmes at the LPAI Training Centre in Agartala. The collaboration aims to promote inclusive growth and strengthen livelihoods in border regions.
Under the agreement, both organisations will collaboratively design and conduct structured training programmes focusing on women empowerment and entrepreneurship, vocational and livelihood skills, community outreach, and sustainable economic self-reliance. The initiative is expected to benefit women, youth, and local workers in Tripura’s border districts by improving employability, encouraging entrepreneurship, and expanding income-generation opportunities.
Officials highlighted that investing in skill development around land ports is crucial for strengthening the socio-economic ecosystem, enhancing productivity, and fostering people-to-people engagement in border areas. The upcoming programmes at the Agartala training centre will play a key role in developing skilled manpower and supporting local enterprises. Through this MoU, LPAI reiterates its commitment to ensuring that infrastructure development is complemented by human and community development.
