Key Police postings/transfers in Bihar

In a recent administrative reshuffle, several IPS officers have been assigned new responsibilities across Bihar, bringing changes to key law enforcement positions. The state government has issued fresh postings that are expected to strengthen policing and streamline operations in critical regions.

Awakash Kumar has been posted as the Commandant of the Bihar Special Armed Police, a key position in maintaining paramilitary readiness within the state. Kartikeya K Sharma has taken charge as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Patna — a high-profile role in the state capital, indicating the administration’s focus on law and order in the city.

The reshuffle has also brought changes within Patna itself. Parichay Kumar has been appointed as the City SP (Patna-East), while Bhanu Pratap Singh will serve as City SP (Patna-West). In district-level postings, Sweety Sahrawat has been named SP of Purnea, Sarath R S takes over in Supaul, and Arvind Pratap Singh has been posted to Samastipur. Additionally, Vishwajeet Dayal has been made SP of Jamui.

Other significant appointments include Shaishav Yadav as AIGP (Modernization) in Patna, Vidya Sagar as SP of ERSS (Emergency Response Support System), and Pramod Kumar Yadav as SP (D) in the Crime Investigation Department. Madan Kumar Anand has been assigned to the Bihar Police Senior Service Commission, while Kota Kiran will now serve as City SP of Muzaffarpur.

This reshuffle reflects the state’s strategic intent to enhance policing efficiency and deploy capable officers in critical regions to address law and order challenges effectively.
