Ahead of Girish Chandra Murmu’s (Retd IAS: 1984: GJ) tenure completion as Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, the President has appointed K Sanjay Murthy (IAS: 1989: HP) as his successor. Murthy, currently serving as Secretary, Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, will take the oath of office on November 21.
Murthy, who is set to retire on December 31, 2024, will now leave a vacancy in the Higher Education Department, adding to the list of unfilled Secretary-level posts in the Ministry of Culture, DoPT, and the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE).
