A. K. Rakesh, a 1989 batch IAS officer, has been assigned the additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) for the Home Department in Gujarat. This appointment comes after an order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD).
Previously, Pankaj Joshi, who held the additional charge as ACS for the Home Department, has been relieved of his duties based on the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) directives. The ECI took this step to ensure a level-playing field in the upcoming elections, ordering the removal of home secretaries in several states, including Gujarat1.
