JNPA hosts her Royal Highness Princess Astrid of Belgium

The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), recognized as India’s Best Performing Port, had the privilege of hosting Her Royal Highness Princess Astrid of Belgium, Representative of His Majesty the King, during her official visit to India. Accompanied by a distinguished business delegation, she was warmly welcomed by Unmesh Sharad Wagh, IRS, Chairperson of JNPA and CMD of VPPL.

During the visit, JNPA showcased its cutting-edge port infrastructure, including the ambitious Vadhvan Port Project, aimed at boosting India’s maritime trade. A key highlight of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between JNPA and APEC-Antwerp/Flanders Port Training Centre to establish a specialized port training institute in India. This partnership is set to enhance maritime education and workforce development.

Her Royal Highness and the delegation also explored JNPA’s dredging operations by boarding the DEME hopper dredging vessel Congo River. Additionally, they visited the JNPA-APEC Training Centre, engaging in discussions on advancing skill development in the maritime sector. The visit marked a significant step in strengthening Indo-Belgian maritime collaboration and fostering future growth in port infrastructure, training, and sustainable maritime solutions.
