Jaya Verma Sinha has been appointed as the new Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Railway Board

Mrs Jaya Verma Sinha has been appointed as the new Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Railway Board, effective September 1, 2023. She is an Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer and will be the first woman to hold this position.

Sinha is a 1986 batch IRTS officer and has held several important positions in the Railways, including Principal Chief Commercial Manager of South Eastern Railway, Divisional Railway Manager of Eastern Railway, and Additional Member (Traffic) of the Railway Board. She is also a recipient of the President’s Award for Distinguished Service.

In her new role, Sinha will be responsible for the overall functioning of the Railways, including its operations, finances, and infrastructure. She will also be the ex-officio Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Railways.
