Harmeet Singh, a 1991-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the acting Director General of Police (DGP) of Assam. He will serve in this capacity until a permanent DGP is appointed or until further directives are issued.
A government notification released on Monday, January 27, confirmed his appointment. Singh, who is already serving as Assam’s Director General of Civil Defence and Commandant General of Home Guards, will continue handling these responsibilities along with his new role.
Additionally, he holds several key positions, including Special Director General of Police (Headquarters), Special DGP-cum-Director of Fire & Emergency Services, and Special Director General of Police (Border).
