Engineers India Limited (EIL) has played a strategic and technical leadership role in the successful commissioning of a world-class breakwater at the Dabhol LNG Terminal, marking a significant advancement in India’s energy infrastructure. On June 2, 2025, the terminal welcomed GAIL’s LNG vessel for berthing and discharge—made possible by the newly completed 2.3 km-long Island Rubble Mound Breakwater constructed by Larsen & Toubro (L\&T). The structure, fortified with over 15,500 locally developed ACCROPODE™ blocks and placed using cutting-edge 3D ECHOSCOPE® technology, has transformed the Dabhol facility into a year-round operational port.
The project, completed in a tight window of 5–6 months, withstood extreme marine conditions using one million cubic meters of triple-layered boulders. EIL, as Project Management Consultant (PMC), ensured precise coordination of design, environmental compliance, and execution, enabling seamless and timely delivery.
The upgraded terminal, now equipped with a regasification capacity of 5 MMTPA, enhances India’s energy security by ensuring continuous LNG supply even during the monsoon season. The milestone event was attended by GAIL CMD Sandeep Kumar Gupta, celebrating the synergy of EIL, GAIL, and L\&T in redefining infrastructure standards for the nation.
