Engineers India Limited (EIL) and ONGC Energy Centre Trust (OECT) signed an agreement at the ONGC office in New Delhi for the establishment of a Helium Recovery Demonstration Plant at ONGC’s Kuthalam Gas Collection Station in Tamil Nadu’s Cauvery Asset. The agreement covers the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR), Basic Engineering Design Package, and execution through EPCM and supply mode.
The project, executed in the presence of senior leaders including Rajiv Agarwal (Director Technical, EIL) and Vikram Saxena (Director, Technology & Field Services, ONGC), holds strategic importance for India’s energy security. Currently, India imports nearly 70 million cubic meters of Helium annually, worth around Rs. 55,000 crore. This initiative aligns with the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ vision, aiming to reduce import dependency and achieve self-reliance in helium recovery technology.
