Bihar government assigns new roles and responsibilities to IAS officers

In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Government of Bihar has allocated new responsibilities to several senior IAS officers, strengthening governance across key departments.

K Senthil Kumar, currently serving as Principal Secretary of the Planning and Development Department—with additional charges of Secretary, Bihar State Planning Board and Project Director of the Bihar Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Society—has been entrusted with a crucial new role. He will now also serve as Principal Secretary, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department, while continuing as CEO of the Mahadalit Vikas Mission and Managing Director of the Bihar State SC Cooperative Development Corporation.

In another administrative update, Pankaj Kumar Pal, Secretary of the Public Health Engineering Department, has been assigned additional responsibility as Secretary of the Road Construction Department. This expanded role aligns with the state’s ongoing focus on infrastructure enhancement.

Abhay Kumar Singh has been transferred as Secretary, Food and Consumer Protection Department. He will also continue handling his existing portfolios as Secretary, IT Department and Managing Director of BELTRON, ensuring continuity in technology-driven governance initiatives.

Further, Divesh Sehra has been posted as Secretary of the Rural Works Department. He will simultaneously retain his additional responsibilities within the General Administration Department and the Mineral Development Corporation, reinforcing administrative coordination across these sectors.

Saravanan M has been assigned to the General Administration Department, while Sandeep Kumar Pudakalakatti has been appointed Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department. Pudakalakatti will also continue to serve as Managing Director of the Patna Metro Rail Corporation, contributing to ongoing urban mobility and infrastructure projects.

These new postings reflect Bihar’s commitment to strengthening administrative efficiency and ensuring effective delivery of public services across departments.
