Bihar Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena may receive service extension

With the Bihar Assembly elections slated for October–November, the state government is considering an extension of service for Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena, an IAS officer of the 1989 batch (Bihar cadre). The possible move is seen as a step toward ensuring administrative continuity and stability during the critical pre-election and polling period.

Meena, who was earlier posted as Secretary, Ministry of Coal, was recently repatriated from his central deputation to take over the top bureaucratic position in the state. Given the importance of steady leadership during elections, an extension of his tenure would align with efforts to maintain a consistent governance framework in Bihar.

If approved, the extension would allow Meena to steer the state machinery through one of its most crucial democratic exercises, leveraging his experience and in-depth knowledge of the administrative landscape.
