In a landmark move, the Uttarakhand government has appointed IPS officer Amit Sinha (1997 batch, Uttarakhand cadre) as the inaugural Vice Chancellor of the newly established Uttarakhand Sports University.
His appointment is for a period of one year, although the official tenure for the role is typically three years. The Vice Chancellor position, designated as full-time, can be held on deputation—indicating that Sinha may soon step down from his current roles as Additional Director General and Special Principal Secretary.
Additionally, Ashish Chauhan, the current Sports Director, will serve as the Registrar, and VN Pandey has been named Finance Controller of the University. This strategic leadership team marks the university’s first administrative foundation.
