New Delhi: Senior IAS officer Naresh Pal Gangwar has been appointed as the Secretary, Department of Higher Education, under the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
A 1994-batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, Gangwar assumed the new responsibility on 23 July 2026, succeeding Vineet Joshi, who has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Panchayati Raj. His appointment was part of a major bureaucratic reshuffle involving 13 Secretary-level postings, approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
With extensive administrative experience, Gangwar is expected to play a key role in advancing higher education policies, institutional reforms, and academic development initiatives across the country.
