In a significant boost to India’s defence preparedness and ammunition testing capabilities, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and the Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the long-term provisioning of Electronic Fuzes as Proof Stock Components (PSCs).
The agreement aims to ensure the timely availability of high-quality Electronic Fuzes that meet prescribed technical specifications and quality standards. These components are critical for conducting proof firing, evaluation, and trial activities related to various weapons systems and ammunition procured by the Indian Army.
The partnership establishes a structured framework for sustained collaboration between BEL and DGQA, paving the way for long-term supply arrangements and the eventual finalization of a rate contract. The initiative is expected to strengthen the quality assurance ecosystem for defence equipment and enhance operational readiness across the armed forces.
DGQA, functioning under the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, serves as the country’s premier quality assurance agency for military stores. It is responsible for conducting inspections, testing, and certification of ammunition and weapon systems before their induction into service by the Indian Armed Forces.
BEL, a Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking, is one of India’s leading defence electronics manufacturers. The company specializes in advanced technologies including radar systems, missile electronics, military communication networks, naval equipment, electronic warfare solutions, avionics, command and control systems, electro-optics, weapon system upgrades, and various strategic defence platforms. BEL also manufactures select civilian products, including electronic voting machines and digital payment devices.
The MoU underscores the government’s continued focus on strengthening indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities while ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability for military equipment.
