56 IAS officers reassigned across key departments in Jharkhand

In a sweeping administrative reshuffle, the Jharkhand government has reassigned responsibilities to 56 senior IAS officers, marking one of the largest bureaucratic overhauls in recent times. The restructuring covers critical departments, ranging from finance and health to urban development and education.

Key Reassignments Include:

  • Amitabh Kaushal, Secretary, Commercial Tax, takes on the additional charge of Secretary, Excise & Prohibition.
  • Rajesh Kumar Sharma, Secretary, Disaster Management, now also serves as Civil Defence Commissioner.
  • Arwa Rajkamal, Secretary, Building Construction, assumes the additional role of Mines Commissioner.
  • A. Dodde becomes Special Secretary, Revenue & Land Reforms, and Director, Land Acquisition.

Sector-Specific Leadership Changes:

  • Shashi Prakash Jha is now Program Director, National Health Mission.
  • Mrs. Rajeshwari B has been appointed Director, Panchayati Raj Department.
  • Ravi Shankar Shukla becomes Excise Commissioner, while Neha Arora moves in as Special Secretary, Health, Medical Education & Family Welfare.
  • Sandeep Singh will now serve as Special Secretary, Finance, and Sanjeev Kumar Besra takes over as Transport Commissioner.

Urban & Rural Development Realignments:

  • Suraj Kumar takes charge as Director, State Urban Development Authority, and Sushant Gaurav becomes Municipal Commissioner, Ranchi.
  • Mrs. Nancy Sahay has been posted as Director, Urban Administration & City Development.
  • Aditya Kumar Anand and Jishan Kumar assume roles as Directors of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development, respectively.

Additional Appointments of Note:

  • Mrs. Kiran Kumari and M.K. Baranwal will lead flagship initiatives as CEOs of the Tejaswini Project and State Water Purification Mission.
  • Ajay Kumar Singh has been made Additional Secretary, Welfare of SC, ST, Minorities & Backward Classes.
  • Varun Ranjan takes additional charge as Managing Director, JIADA, while Shahi Ranjan is posted as Registrar, Cooperative Societies.
  • Mrs. Medha Bhardwaj becomes Inspector General, Registration, and Mrs. Garima Singh is appointed Managing Director, Jharcraft.

In the Education and Planning Sectors:

  • Sudhir Bada is now Director, Higher Education; Manoj Kumar Ranjan, Director, Primary Education; and Raj Kumar Gupta, Additional Secretary, Higher & Technical Education.
  • Ananya Mittal steps in as CEO, JSLPS, and Madhvi Mishra as Director, Horticulture.
  • Akshay Kumar Singh will handle Special Secretary, Planning & Development.

Other Key Moves:

  • Vishal Sagar and J R V Narayan Rao have been appointed Director, Tourism.
  • V.K. Sinha is now Director, Social Security, while Lokesh Mishra becomes Examination Controller, State PSC.
  • Sandeep Kumar takes charge as Secretary, Jharkhand Public Service Commission, and Himanshu Mohan joins as Joint Secretary, Home, Prison & Disaster Management.

This reshuffle is seen as a strategic move by the Jharkhand government to optimize administrative effectiveness and bring focused leadership across development verticals.
