Rajesh Rana has been appointed as Director (Commercial & Marketing) at India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. He assumed office on March 17 and is now a member of the Board of Directors.
With over 26 years of experience in hospitality and tourism, Rana has held key positions across the industry. He started as a management trainee with the Jaypee Group of Hotels before joining THDC India Limited, a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU). In 2005, he moved to IRCTC, where he played a significant role in its hospitality and tourism divisions.
Throughout his 19-year tenure at IRCTC, Rana held strategic roles across Regional, Zonal, and corporate offices, advancing from Deputy General Manager to General Manager. He has expertise in catering, tourism, operations, administration, marketing, and product development. Before joining ITDC, he served as General Manager at IRCTC’s Corporate Office in New Delhi and also held the position of Chief Risk Officer (CRO).
An alumnus of the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Lucknow, Rana also holds an MBA in Marketing. His leadership and risk management skills have significantly contributed to the growth of India’s hospitality, tourism, and railway catering sectors.
