Alka Tiwari has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Jharkhand, receiving approval from the Election Commission of India amid the state’s electoral preparations. Tiwari, an IAS officer of the 1988 batch from Jharkhand, succeeds L Khiangte, who retired on October 31, 2024.
Notably, her husband, Devendra Kumar Tiwari, a retired IAS officer from the 1986 batch, previously held the same position. Tiwari’s tenure as Chief Secretary is expected to last until her own retirement on September 30, 2025.
