West Bengal transfers 20 IG-Rank IPS officers in major Police Department Reorganisation

The West Bengal government has carried out a major reorganisation of its police establishment by transferring 20 IPS officers holding the rank of Inspector General. The reshuffle aims to strengthen various operational, intelligence, and administrative wings of the state police.

Among the prominent changes, Rajesh Kumar Yadav (IPS:2002) has been moved from IG, Bankura Range, to IG, Special Task Force (STF), while Rishikesh Meena (IPS:2004) takes over as IG (Organisation). Sabya Sachi Raman Mishra has been shifted to IG, AP Barrackpore, and Dip Narayan Goswami has been appointed Additional Commissioner of Police, Kolkata. Gaurav Sharma will now head the STF as IG, while Sukesh Kumar Jain has been posted as IG, CCW.

The reshuffle also impacts several key intelligence and training positions. Sheesh Ram Jhajharia has been appointed Director of SVSPA, Murli Dhar takes charge as IG, Intelligence Branch, and Subhankar Sinha has been assigned as IG, Provisioning. Meanwhile, Kunal Agrawal joins Kolkata Police as Additional CP (Crime), and V Solomon Nesakumar becomes IG, Personnel.

Further changes include Mukesh being posted as IG, Armed Police, Kolkata, Shankha Shubhra Chakrabarty as IG, Home Guard, Utpal Kumar Naskar as IG, Correctional Services, and Farhat Abbas as IG, Training. The government has also entrusted Anjan Chakraborty with the responsibility of Director, Forensic Science Laboratory, while Sapan Sarkar has been appointed IG, Anti-Corruption Branch. The transfers mark one of the most extensive IG-level police reshuffles undertaken in the state in recent years.
