Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has launched its 3rd Annual Sports Meet 2025, a three-day sporting extravaganza being held from December 22 to 24 across prominent venues in Bhubaneswar, including Kalinga Stadium, Biju Patnaik Multipurpose Indoor Stadium, and East Coast Railway Cricket Stadium. The event was inaugurated by OMC Managing Director Sudhansu Mohan Samal, IAS, in the presence of senior leadership and enthusiastic employee participants.
More than 550 employees from across OMC are competing in 18 sporting disciplines such as sprint races, long jump, javelin throw, table tennis, volleyball, and cricket. The sports meet reflects OMC’s strong focus on employee wellness, teamwork, and fostering a positive workplace culture. Addressing the gathering, Samal emphasised that the annual sports meet is a celebration of unity, discipline, and collective effort that brings together employees across regions and roles under the shared identity of the OMC family.
The inaugural ceremony also featured colourful cultural performances highlighting Odisha’s rich traditions, including vibrant Sambalpuri folk dance and music. Prior to the commencement of competitions, participants and officials took a Sports Safety Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to fair play, safety protocols, injury prevention, and mutual respect. On the occasion, OMC also honoured its internationally recognised sportspersons employed with the corporation, underlining its commitment to nurturing sporting excellence alongside professional growth. The 3rd OMC Annual Sports Meet 2025 reinforces OMC’s dedication to inclusivity, physical fitness, safety, and inter-regional bonding within the organisation.
